Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration (nAMD)

Neovascular Age Related Macular Degeneration nAMD

Wet (neovascular) age-related macular degeneration is a vision threatening condition that can cause blindness if left untreated. nAMD is characterised by the growth of abnormal blood vessels under the retina, which can leak fluid and blood, and damage the retina.

Standard of care for this disease is monthly intravitreal injections of anti-VEGF medication, however this can cause increased burden for patients. Current trials are evaluating other modes of administration (e.g. slow release implants, suprachoroidal injections) and therapy types (i.e. gene therapy) to minimise the visit, cost and treatment burden on patients.

  • This is a Phase 3 study to investigate the efficacy of a single gene therapy injection of 4D-150 compared to Aflibercept 2mg every 8 weeks.
  • Study Duration: 2 years
  • This is a Phase 2/3 study comparing intravitreal EYE201/MK-8748 to Aflibercept 2 mg in participants with neovascular age-related macular degeneration.
  • Study Duration: 2 years
